By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): The investigation into the murder of Dr. Naum Bonilla appears to be reaching a critical stage, with police confirming they have identified both a vehicle and a person of interest linked to the case.
The development was revealed during Monday’s police briefing, where ASP Stacy Smith said investigators have made significant progress while continuing to pursue two possible motives behind the killing.
Although police declined to disclose details that could jeopardize the investigation, Smith indicated that detectives have substantially narrowed their focus.
“On the last occasion, I advised that there are two motives that are being followed,” Smith said. “What I will say is that we have made progress in relation to identifying a vehicle and a person of interest, and that matter continues to be pursued relentlessly.”
It is the strongest public indication yet that investigators may be closing in on those responsible for Dr. Bonilla’s death.
The announcement is likely to provide some measure of reassurance to Dr. Bonilla’s family, who have been demanding justice since the day he was killed.
Police have not announced any arrests and say the investigation remains active.
