By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): A 51-year-old Orange Walk farmer has been charged for the cultivation of a controlled drug following a police search at his residence.
Reports indicate that on April 28, officers executed a search warrant at the home of Kenrick Paul Diego in the London Area along the Old Northern Highway. Police say that while nothing illegal was found inside the house, a search of the yard led to the discovery of a plant suspected to be cannabis.
The plant, which measured approximately 10 inches in height, was shown to Diego, who was informed of the offence. He was subsequently detained and taken to the Orange Walk Police Station along with the plant.
Officials say the plant was sealed and labeled in his presence before he was formally arrested and charged for cultivation of a controlled drug.
