By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Police are investigating a deadly shooting that claimed the life of a delivery driver and left his co-worker injured along Chan Pine Ridge Road.
According to the Police the incident occurred on April 28 shortly after 4:00 p.m., when two employees of a water company responded to a delivery request in the area.
Initial reports indicate that upon arrival, the men were approached by a masked individual posing as a customer. As one of the workers exited the vehicle to retrieve water, gunshots rang out.
The driver, 42-year-old Roberto Villafranco of Trinidad Village, was fatally shot. His co-worker, 25-year-old Felipe Vasquez, managed to escape the scene despite being shot in the shoulder and later sought help at a nearby gas station.
Police later discovered Villafranco’s body near the delivery truck with gunshot injuries. Investigators processed the scene and recovered multiple expended shells.
Vasquez was transported for medical treatment and is listed in stable condition. Police say two persons have since been detained as investigations continue.
