By Zoila Palma: The U.S. Embassy Belize announced that Research and Enforcement Officer at the Institute of Archaeology (NICH) Belize, Akirah August is currently participating in the U.S. State Department’s International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP).
The International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) advances U.S. national security priorities and builds long-term relationships between Americans and international leaders in government, business, academia, and other fields through short-term professional exchanges.
August is gaining insight into U.S. leadership in cultural preservation—exploring innovative approaches to protecting heritage and preventing the trafficking of cultural property.
“This exchange creates opportunities for Belize to strengthen connections with U.S. museums, academic institutions, and law enforcement agencies working to safeguard and preserve cultural heritage,” the U.S. Embassy said.
