No storms threaten Belize in June, but July awaits

By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): The first month of the Atlantic hurricane season has passed peacefully for Belize, with no storms or hurricanes threatening the country throughout June. But as attention shifts to July, Belizeans are being reminded to stay ready.

The hurricane season, which spans June 1 to November 30, got off to a calm start this year. No tropical systems emerged to pose a danger to the nation in June, giving the country a quiet and reassuring beginning to the months ahead.

Still, a peaceful first month is not necessarily a sign of things to come. The Atlantic often ramps up its activity later in the season, with the busiest and most dangerous stretch usually arriving between August and October. For that reason, officials continue to stress the importance of preparedness, even during the quieter periods.

With July now here, Belize will be keeping a close watch on the tropics to see what the new month has in store. The hope, of course, is for more calm conditions, though the country knows better than to take anything for granted when it comes to the weather.

At present, there is no threat looming over Belize. The National Meteorological Service remains on watch, and no tropical development is currently expected in the near term.

The message to the public is a familiar but important one. Now is the ideal time to prepare, by putting together an emergency kit, reviewing family and community plans, and following updates from official channels. A calm June is a blessing, and using it to get storm-ready is the smartest way to face the rest of the season with peace of mind.
