By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): A 51-year-old woman from San Jose Village, Orange Walk District, reported being injured during a domestic dispute involving her son.
According to reports, the incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, April 22, 2026, around 1:00 a.m., when the woman and her husband were awakened by knocking at their door. Upon opening, they realized it was their son who also resides at the home.
Shortly after entering, the son allegedly began behaving disorderly and throwing items around the house. The situation escalated when he took medication belonging to his mother, prompting an intervention by the husband.
During the altercation, the woman attempted to separate the two, but was reportedly injured when her son pulled on her earring, causing a cut wound to her ear. A neighbour later arrived to assist, and the son left the scene.
Police recorded a statement, and medical examination confirmed the injury as wounding. The 30-year-old man has since been detained as investigations continue.
