By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): A 21-year-old student from San Estevan Village, Orange Walk District, has reported being the victim of an online scam involving the purchase of an electronic device.

According to reports, the incident began on April 16, 2026, when the student came across a Facebook page advertising an 11th Generation iPad for $690.00. After contacting the seller, she was directed to continue communication via WhatsApp and was informed that a deposit was required to secure the item.

On April 17, she reportedly transferred $350.00 to a local bank account. A few days later, the seller claimed the item had arrived and sent images, requesting the remaining balance. The student then sent an additional $340.00, bringing the total payment to $690.00.

Arrangements were made for the item to be collected; however, the device was never received.

The matter has since been reported to police, and investigations into the suspected case of obtaining property by deception are ongoing.
