Ministry of Economic Development launches Digital Innovation and Sustainable and Inclusive Belize project

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On April 23, 2024, the Ministry of Economic Development hosted a significant ceremony to launch two key projects: “Digital Innovation for Belize’s Economic Development” (BL-L1039) and “Sustainable and Inclusive Belize” (BL-L1041), financed by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).

To commemorate this occasion, essential digital assets such as computers, servers, desktops, and other equipment were delivered to the Ministry of Agriculture to support project activities and improve operational efficiency.

“The event highlights the commitment to advancing digital innovation and sustainability in Belize’s economic development efforts, demonstrating the collaborative partnership between the Government of Belize and the IDB to foster inclusive and sustainable development nationwide. The equipment handover represents a concrete step towards harnessing technology to create transformative impacts across key sectors,” the Ministry noted.

Attending the event was Minister of Agriculture, Jose Abelardo Mai, CEO Servulo Baeza, Dr. Osmond Martinez (CEO of Economic Development), IDB Group Country Representative Rocio Medina Bolivar, Chief Agriculture Officer Dr. Victoriano Pascual, and other distinguished guests.
