By Zoila Palma:  As part of the 2026 National Agriculture and Trade Show (NATS) festivities, organizers have announced an exciting horse racing event scheduled for Saturday, May 2, at the Cayo South Race Track located within the showgrounds in Belmopan.

The event is expected to draw large crowds as one of several attractions planned for this year’s celebration.

The race forms part of the wider NATS 2026 activities, being held under the theme “Advancing Smart Agriculture: Building a Climate-Resilient and Sustainable Belizean Food System.”

The annual show continues to highlight innovation, sustainability, and the importance of strengthening Belize’s agricultural sector, while also offering entertainment for patrons.

The races are set to begin at 1:00 p.m., with registration opening at 12 noon.

Participants in the regular races will be required to pay a registration fee of $20.

The horse racing competition is among several crowd-pulling activities taking place throughout the show, reinforcing NATS as not only Belize’s premier agricultural showcase but also a major cultural and recreational event.
