By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): A man is facing a charge of possession of an article with a blade, after police reported finding a kitchen knife in his pocket during an early morning stop in Orange Walk Town.
According to the Belize Police Department, on Sunday, July 12, 2026, at about 1:25 a.m., officers on mobile patrol along the Belize Corozal Road had their attention drawn to a man walking in the direction of Carmelita Village. An officer identified himself, asked the man to stop, and informed him that a search would be conducted for illegal drugs, firearms, or ammunition.
During the search, police said they found a silver kitchen knife in the man’s right pants pocket. He was informed of the offence, cautioned, advised of his constitutional rights, and escorted to the Orange Walk Police Station.
At the station, the man was identified as 27-year-old Alexis Adriel Carrillo, a Belizean shelf attendant of Guinea Grass Village. Police measured the knife’s cutting blade in his presence at 4.5 inches, before sealing and labelling it as evidence.
Carrillo was formally arrested and charged with the offence of possession of an article with a blade. He was cautioned once more and chose to remain silent.
