By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Georgetown Technical High School (GTHS) won the South Secondary Schools Sports Association’s (SSSSA) Girls Basketball Championship at the Russell ‘Chiste’ Garcia Auditorium in Dangriga on Saturday.
Georgetown Technical High School dispatched Toledo Community College (TCC) 40-4 in the Final to claim the right to represent the South in the National Secondary Schools Sports Association’s (NSSSA) National Basketball Championship.

The GTHS Egrets were led by coach Hilberto Bernardez and assistant coach Sophia Jang.
In the semifinals, Georgetown drubbed Stann Creek Ecumenical 30-0 while TCC defeated hosts Delille Academy 16-4.
Delille Academy finished in third place over TCC due to a better score in the semifinals.
The NSSSA) National Basketball Championship will be hosted by West Region Champions Sacred Heart College in San Ignacio on December 15-16.
