By Breaking Belize News Staff: Four adults and a 17-year-old minor were granted bail after being arraigned in connection with an alleged machete and broken bottle attack in Lucky Strike Village that left a man and his common-law wife injured.

The accused are Robert Chi Sr., 44; Robert Chi Jr., 22; Raymond Chi, 20; Thomas Junior Tillett, 20; and a 17-year-old minor. They appeared unrepresented before a Senior Magistrate in Court #2 at the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Coney Drive.

The group was jointly charged with grievous harm upon a construction worker of Lucky Strike Village. Raymond Chi was additionally charged with aggravated assault and harm upon Williams’ common-law wife, involving a broken beer bottle.

The incident reportedly occurred on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Williams Mini Mart in Lucky Strike Village. Police say the couple came under attack after an old dispute allegedly escalated at the shop.

According to reports, Robert Chi Sr. allegedly arrived at the shop and began making remarks before the altercation unfolded. Police later observed the man with cut injuries to his upper chest, forehead, left side of the nose, and lower back area.

At arraignment, the police prosecutor objected to bail, arguing that grievous harm is a serious offense and that the accused acted “like a gang” when they allegedly approached and attacked the couple in public. The prosecutor also noted that the assailants were allegedly armed with a machete and a broken pint bottle.

However, after hearing the objection, the Senior Magistrate ruled that bail could be granted with strict conditions.

The four adults were each offered bail in the sum of $3,000, plus one surety of the same amount or two sureties of $1,500 each. The court ordered that each accused must secure separate sureties, who must be employed and present job letters. The minor was granted bail in the sum of $2,000.

As part of their bail conditions, the accused must stay at least 100 yards away from the virtual complainants. The court made it clear that if they encounter the complainants, they must remove themselves from the area or risk having their bail revoked.

They were also ordered not to contact the complainants directly, indirectly, through a third party, or through social media. All five must report to the Maskall Police Station every Tuesday and Friday and must not be arrested and charged with any other offense while out on bail.

The minor must also report every two weeks to the Community Rehabilitation Department so that an officer can monitor him and provide updates to the court.

The five accused are due back in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on July 20, 2026.
