Defending champions SQ Mega Stars start off with victory in 2024 Women’s National Volleyball Championship in Benque Viejo del Carmen

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The defending champions SQ Mega Stars got off to a good start in the 2024 Belize Women’s National Volleyball Championship on Friday evening at the Mopan Technical High School Savannah Auditorium in Benque Viejo del Carmen with a 2-0 (25-12, 25-13) victory over the SE Junior Jaguars.

The other group leaders also won their initial game on Friday in the tournament organized by the Belize Volleyball Association.

The SE Lady Jaguars beat the Menonas 2-0(25-6, 25-7 0.

The SQ Ultra Stars defeated the EA Lady Jaguars 2-1 (25-10, 17-25, 15-9.

The Orange Walk Cobras dropped Dynasty 2-0 (25-7, 25-12).

In the other Friday games, the SQ Magna Stars defeated the Toledo Scorpions 2-0 (25-11, 25-20). The Garden City Mystics dropped SQ Junior stars 2-1 (25-22, 22-25, 15-12). The SQ Imperial Stars blanked Vipers 2-0 (25-8, 25-11), and the Belmopan Mystics beat Dynasty Junior 2-0 (25-18, 25-11).

The tournament, which features 16 teams from around the country, continues on Saturday With 28 games and Sunday with the final eight. In total, 44 games will be played throughout the three days.

The games, which are being played on Court 1 and Court 2, are being live streamed by the Belize Volleyball Association.

The Belize Volleyball Association (BVA) said entrance costs $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for kids.
