Accused con artist arrested and charged

By Aaron Humes: Police have formally arrested and charged Christopher D Angelo Alvarado Marchena, 39, a Social Networking Consultant of San Jose, Costa Rica, for the crimes of Obtaining Service By Deception, Possession of Counterfeit Currency and Possession of Controlled Drugs.

Under separate aliases, Marchena is accused of skipping out on a hotel bill of more than US$25,000 at the Itz’ana Resort in Placencia, Stann Creek District, and again at the Villa Abrazos in San Pedro Town, Ambergris Caye.

When detained he was also found with eight US$100 bills suspected to be counterfeit and a quantity of suspected cocaine.

Marchena allegedly showed the hotel staff in each case wire transfers that were forged and did not go through, for multiple-day stays including food and liquor.
