By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Police discovered suspected drugs and ammunition hidden between tombs at the Piemonte Cemetery in Orange Walk Town on Friday afternoon.
Personnel from the Orange Walk Special Branch and the Crime Investigation Branch conducted a search at the cemetery on Cemetery Street around 4:50pm, acting on information received.
The search turned up a parcel of transparent plastic wrapping containing a green leafy substance suspected to be cannabis, a ziplock bag containing a white powdery substance suspected to be cocaine, and a black 9mm magazine containing eight live rounds.
No one was seen in the immediate area.
At the Orange Walk Police Station, the suspected cannabis was weighed at 1,035 grams and the suspected cocaine at 7 grams. Both were sealed and labelled as exhibits.
The magazine and eight live 9mm rounds were also labelled and sealed.
All items were deposited as found property.
