By Breaking Belize News Staff: A night of entertainment at a popular Belize City nightclub ended in chaos after a dance competition reportedly sparked an alleged assault on a police officer acting as a deejay.

Twenty-seven-year-old Erynn Alijah Bellezaire, a mother of three, was arraigned on Friday in Court #2 before Magistrate Jana Pechcoo, where she was read a single charge of aggravated assault with a glass bottle. She pleaded not guilty.

The allegation stems from an incident at a Night Club on Newtown Barracks, where a police constable reported that he was hosting a dance competition on the night of April 16, 2026.

According to the officer, Bellezaire was a contestant who placed second in the competition. He stated that after informing her of the results, she later returned to the DJ booth, retrieved an Easter egg container holding a Campari and Magnum bottle, and allegedly threw the Campari bottle at him.

The officer reported feeling liquid and shards of glass strike his back during the incident. He also told police that his SX2 turntable, valued at $1,800, was damaged as a result.

Bellezaire was subsequently detained and charged.

With no objection to bail, the court granted her bail in the sum of $1,000 plus one surety of the same amount. Conditions of her bail include that she must not contact the virtual complainant, interfere with witnesses, or come within 100 feet of him.

She met bail this afternoon and is due back in court on June 12, 2026.

Bellezaire’s name may be familiar, as she was previously charged in connection with an attempted murder case following a 2025 stabbing incident.
