By Breaking Belize News Staff: Today, the Belize Police Department (BPD) conducted a drug destruction operation in the Cayo District.
The process, which took place between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., saw the disposal of 1,215.6 pounds of cocaine and 1,176.5 pounds of cannabis.
The BPD says that the drugs represented a significant accumulation of seizures made by the department over the past months.
Witnessing the destruction were Commissioner of Police, Dr. Richard Rosado, Commander Operations, Gualberto Garcia, ACP, Officer Commanding Prosecution Branch, Hector Rodriquez, Supt., Magistrate, Deborah Rogers, personnel from National Forensic Science Service and Scenes of Crime Unit, Exhibit Keeper, E. Borland Sgt., Justice of the Peace, Dianne Navarette, representatives from Government Press Office, media representatives (Channel 7, and Channel 5) and other senior officers.
