By Rubén Morales Iglesias: In an exciting Week 6 match of the Premier League of Belize (PLB) 2024-2025 Closing Championship, San Pedro Pirates and Wagiya played to a dramatic 3-3 draw at the Carl Ramos Stadium in Dangriga on Sunday, February 23, 2025.
San Pedro Pirates took an early lead with Jaheim Mena’s stunning goals in the 18th and 22nd minutes. Wagiya responded with a goal from Jaider Ledesma in the 44th minute, followed by Richard Mendoza’s equalizer in the 53rd minute. The Pirates regained the lead with Devon Makin’s goal in the 72nd minute, but Mendoza struck again in the 84th minute to secure a draw for Wagiya.
The result places San Pedro Pirates in 4th place with seven points, while Wagiya remain in last place with two points.
In other matches, Progresso and Verdes battled to a 0-0 draw at the People’s Stadium in Orange Walk. Verdes narrowly trail league leaders Port by two points after Port edged Belmopan FC on Saturday night in Belmopan.
