By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Week 6 of the Premier League of Belize (PLB) 2024-2025 Closing Championship saw Progresso and Verdes face off at the People’s Stadium in Orange Walk on Sunday, February 23, 2025, ending in a 0-0 draw.
Both teams came out pumping, but their firepower didn’t respond as their offensive efforts fell short as neither side managed to find the back of the net. While you’d think they came out unscathed, Verdes find themselves falling behind.
Currently, Verdes stand at 11 points, trailing the leading Port by two points. Progresso, on the other hand, climbed to 3rd place with 10 points, and they have a match pending against Port Layola. This pivotal game will be crucial in determining Progresso’s standing and could keep them in the race for the top spot.
In another fixture, league leaders Port Layola secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Belmopan FC on Saturday night at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium in Belmopan, solidifying their top position. Meanwhile, in a high-octane encounter on Sunday, San Pedro Pirates played to an dramatic 3-3 draw against Wagiya at the Carl Ramos Stadium in Dangriga.
