By Zoila Palma: Women’s contributions to agriculture were highlighted at National Agriculture and Trade show 2026 with the recognition of Yoalma Pocasangre as Female Farmer of the Year.
Pocasangre, a farmer from Valley of Peace, has built a successful enterprise supplying produce to markets in Belmopan and Belize City while also adding value through food preparation and sales.
The Ministry of Agriculture noted that Pocasangre’s recognition highlights the vital role women play in food production and economic development, as well as their resilience in overcoming industry challenges.
