Woman says common-law husband slapped and punched her in the face

By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Police in the Orange Walk District are investigating a report of domestic assault made by a woman against her partner.

According to the Belize Police Department, the 28-year-old complainant, a housewife of San Pablo Village, visited the Trial Farm Police Sub Station to make the report. She stated that on Friday, July 3, 2026, she was assaulted by her common law husband.

The woman reported that during the incident, she was slapped and struck about the face, leaving her with pain, swelling, and bruising.

A statement was recorded from the complainant, and medico-legal forms were issued. Her injuries were certified as “harm” by a doctor.

The matter remains under investigation, and police have identified a man they are looking to speak with in connection with the report. No charges have been laid at this time.
