By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): A woman has been arrested and charged after allegedly attacking another woman twice in the same morning, first on a bus and then again in the street.

According to the Belize Police Department, a 20-year-old labourer of San Roman Village, Corozal District, reported that on the morning in question, she was travelling on a Valencia bus from Corozal Town to Orange Walk Town when she was approached by a woman she had known for the past four years through a former relationship.

The complainant said that while she was in her seat, the other woman began pulling her hair, and the two ended up falling to the floor of the bus before other passengers separated them and the woman was removed. About two hours later, the complainant said she was walking to work along Bautista Street when the same woman approached her again and, without a word, began punching her in the face and choking her around the neck, causing her pain.

A statement was recorded from the complainant, and medico-legal forms were issued. Her injuries were certified as “harm”.

The accused was identified as 29-year-old Jemima Pacheco, a Belizean of San Victor Village, Corozal District. She was cautioned, and on Saturday, July 4, 2026, police obtained a warrant and formally charged her with the crime of harm. She chose to remain silent and was granted station bail.

As with any criminal matter, Pacheco is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
