By Zoila Palma: Today, the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital was proud to announce that as the national referral hospital, it serves as the primary training grounds for future healthcare professionals.
“After five weeks of immersive ward rounds, our University of Belize pharmacy students completed their clinical rotation by presenting their chosen patient case studies. Throughout the rotation, they transformed theory into practice, observing firsthand how doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and the multidisciplinary team collaborate to assess patients, make clinical decisions, and develop individualized treatment plans,” Rhondine Reynolds, Faculty of Health Sciences at UB said.
The University of Belize noted that this experience has strengthened their clinical knowledge, critical thinking, communication skills, and appreciation for truly patient-centered, collaborative care.
“A heartfelt thank you to all the doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and the many members of the extended healthcare team who so generously shared their knowledge, guidance, and experience. Your mentorship, patience, and commitment have helped shape the next generation of healthcare professionals. Your investment in our students today will undoubtedly improve the care of countless patients tomorrow,” Reynolds added.
