By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On March 26, 2024, UDP Leader Shyne Barrow and his Central Executive Committee approved a motion to remove John Saldivar and Denny Grijalva, both members of the UDP’s Caucus for Change.
According to reports by 7News Belize, the motion was passed with 19 votes and 9 against.
The UDP’s constitution only permits standard bearers to lose three times – and they both did that.
However, following the last General election, the National Party Council created an exception for them to stay despite their losses.
To completely exile Saldivar and Grijalva, the UDP’s National Party Council is expected to vote within a week.
