More load shedding: parts of City, Belmopan, Belize, Stann Creek and Toledo Districts without power till 10 p.m., says BEL

By Aaron Humes: Belize Electricity Limited says it has been forced to implement scheduled power interruptions for parts of Belize City and Belmopan; upper rural Belize District; and urban Stann Creek and Toledo Districts as of 7 p.m. tonight, lasting until 10 p.m.

The affected areas include: in Belize City, all of Northside Belize City including the entire area between North Front Street and Princess Margaret Drive, Kings Park, West Landivar, and a portion of Coney Drive; in Ladyville, all areas along the Philip Goldson Highway from Courtenay Estate to Ladyville including Vista Del Mar and Marage Road (feeder 1) and the rest of Ladyville, Vista del Mar, Sandhill, Gardenia, Biscayne, Rhaburn Ridge, Crooked Tree, St. Anne’s and Maskall (feeder 2); in Belmopan, the Market Area, Central Site, Site 7, and Mountain View area; all of Dangriga Town, Sarawee, and Long Bank; all of Independence Village, and all of Punta Gorda Town, Hopeville, and Ex-Service Men Road.

Interruptions to customers could last between 2 to 3 hours in any given area, and have become necessary as temporary in-country generation shortages and curtailment from Comision Federal de Electricidad (CFE) have resulted in insufficient energy supply to meet the growing demand for consumption.

Load shedding is a controlled process of temporarily reducing electricity consumption across different areas to ensure the stability and continuous operation of the national electricity grid.
