By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): The Ministry of Tourism and the Belize Tourism Board are speaking out following a recent social media incident involving a licensed tour guide.
In a statement issued on Monday, officials made it clear that any derogatory remarks toward visitors are unacceptable and do not reflect Belize’s values.
The Ministry described the incident as “highly inappropriate” and confirmed that the Tour Guide Committee has been notified and will review the matter.
That review could lead to disciplinary action in accordance with regulations.
Officials emphasized that licensed tour guides are professionals who play a key role in representing Belize, and are expected to uphold the highest standards at all times.
While acknowledging the seriousness of the incident, the Ministry also noted that the actions of one individual do not define the wider tourism industry.
