By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): The rubber boots are retired, the umbrellas are shelved, and the sea has finally exhaled. Belize wakes to a picture-perfect Saturday, with mainly fair conditions holding right through what promises to be a very big Sunday.
The National Meteorological Service reports sunny skies with a few cloudy spells today, clearing to partly cloudy tonight, with only isolated showers anywhere on the map.
Out on the water, the transformation is complete. The gusty winds and rough seas of recent weeks have given way to gentle easterlies of 5 to 15 knots, a light chop, and waves of a mere 2 to 4 feet. For the fishing villages, the island hoppers, and every boat that has been waiting in safe harbor, today is the day.
Bring the sunscreen, because the heat is on. Inland areas will hit a scorching 94 degrees Fahrenheit (34 Celsius) before easing to 74 (23 Celsius) overnight. The coast tops out at 89 degrees Fahrenheit (32 Celsius) with a low of 81 (27 Celsius), while the hills peak at 81 degrees Fahrenheit (27 Celsius) and cool to a comfortable 67 (19 Celsius).
The tropics remain blessedly quiet, with no tropical cyclone formation expected anywhere in the region over the next 48 hours.
Best of all is what comes next. Sunday and Sunday night stay warm and mostly dry, with showers, if any, only isolated, meaning not a cloud stands between Belize and the World Cup final at 1:00 p.m., when the whole country gathers around its screens.
As for the tides, today’s lows fall at 6:48 AM and 7:33 PM, with highs at 12:49 PM and 1:32 AM tomorrow. The sun sets this evening at 6:30 PM and rises again at 5:27 AM. This forecast was prepared by forecaster Tareek Matthews.
