The Belize National Meteorological Service is reporting a hot and largely sunny Tuesday for the country with inland temperatures reaching a sweltering 95 degrees Fahrenheit, which is 35 degrees Celsius, making today one of the hotter days felt across the country in recent weeks.
Coastal areas are sitting at 88 degrees Fahrenheit while the hills are offering the most relief at a comparatively cooler 82 degrees Fahrenheit.
Forecaster Catherine Cumberbatch reports that a moderate and relatively moist easterly airflow is driving today’s conditions, bringing sunny skies with cloudy intervals throughout the day. Tonight will be partly cloudy with showers and thunderstorms expected to remain generally isolated, meaning most Belizeans should be able to enjoy their Tuesday evening without major disruption.
For those heading to the water today, conditions are not as inviting as the sunshine might suggest. Winds are blowing in from the east southeast at 10 to 20 knots and waves are running between 4 and 7 feet with sea conditions described as moderate to rough. Fishermen and recreational boaters are urged to exercise caution before heading out.
Today’s high tide came in at 7:03 this morning with a low tide expected at 2:18 this afternoon and another high tide at 8:27 this evening. The sun sets tonight at 6:22 p.m.
Looking ahead, Thursday is shaping up to be a different story. Cloudy intervals along with a few showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected to develop across the country, with coastal areas particularly in line for activity.
