By Zoila Palma: The second annual Cabalgata is set to take place on Friday, May 1, 2026, as part of the official festivities for the National Agriculture and Trade Show (NATS) in Belmopan.
The event, which highlights Belize’s strong cultural traditions, is expected to draw riders and spectators from across the country.
The cabalgata is a traditional horseback riding parade celebrating local culture.
The Cabalgata will feature a parade of horse riders traveling through the capital before culminating at the National Agriculture and Trade Showgrounds.
Participants will depart from the Embassy of Mexico Field at 1:00 p.m., making their way to the rodeo arena.
The event forms part of the Agric 2026 celebrations, held under the theme “Advancing Smart Agriculture: Building a Climate-Resilient and Sustainable Belizean Food System.”
Agric 2026 emphasizes innovation and sustainability in agriculture and also includes cultural showcases such as the Cabalgata to reflect Belize’s rural heritage.
