By Zoila Palma: Livestock competitions are set to be a major highlight of the 2026 National Agriculture and Trade Show (NATS), with a full schedule of judging events planned at the Kent “Kent Smith” Rodeo Arena at the showgrounds in Belmopan.
The activities form part of the wider slate of events celebrating Belize’s premier agricultural showcase.
The competitions will run across two days, beginning on Saturday, May 2, with the judging of sheep, goats, beef cattle, and dairy cattle. On Sunday, May 3, the focus will shift to horse judging by categories, bringing together livestock owners and breeders from across the country.
The animals will enter the arena from 7:10 a.m., with judging scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m. and conclude by 11:30 a.m. Participants are required to register in advance, with a deadline set for 3:00 p.m. on Friday, April 30.
Interested individuals can coordinate registration through the event contact provided by organizers.
The livestock events are part of NATS 2026, which is being held under the theme “Advancing Smart Agriculture: Building a Climate-Resilient and Sustainable Belizean Food System.”
The competitions are expected to showcase quality breeding and promote best practices in animal husbandry.
