By Zoila Palma: Schools across Belize were recognized for excellence in agricultural education at the National School Garden Competition, held as part of the National Agriculture and Trade Show (NATS) 2026 opening ceremony on Thursday in Belmopan.
San Victor R.C. School captured first place in the primary school category for an unprecedented third consecutive year, earning special recognition for its consistency, innovation, and commitment to agricultural learning.
In the secondary division, the Belize High School of Agriculture secured the top award.
The Ministry of Agriculture noted that the judges were impressed by the high level of creativity and dedication displayed by participating schools.
Entries featured innovative garden designs and incorporated elements of science, nutrition, and environmental awareness, demonstrating how agriculture can be effectively integrated into education.
The competition continues to play a key role in promoting agricultural awareness among young people, encouraging students to adopt sustainable farming practices while developing practical skills.
