San Ignacio woman robbed while waiting for UB bus

By Aaron Humes: Police in San Ignacio Town are investigating an armed hold-up of a 20-year-old University of Belize student early Thursday morning while she was waiting for the bus to go to the university campus.

According to the victim, she and her mother walked out of the Boiton Area where they live, to the Kontiki area where she left to continue to the site where the bus passes around 6:30 in the morning. She noticed a tall Hispanic man with a grey and maroon hooded shirt, short black pants, and slippers walking behind her a distance away but did not see his face; he did not look suspicious to her at the time.

Near the Trench Town area, she saw the man go in another direction and she continued walking, but he met her coming out of Trench Town on the side of the road. As she almost reached the bus stop she felt someone grab her in a chokehold and place a sharp object to her neck, then grab her Samsung A20 cell phone valued at $1,200 as she fought to hold on.

She called to her friend who was waiting for the same bus and the robber fled, leaving his slippers behind.
