By Zoila Palma: Last night, the People’s United Party (PUP) launched its manifesto, showcasing key achievements under the Briceno Administration from 2020 to 2025.
The government introduced Digital Connect Centers in remote areas, providing high-speed internet and devices to students and residents, marking a significant step in bridging the digital divide.
Through Beltraide, the government has supported entrepreneurship and small businesses with training, grants, and roadshows, helping locals formalize businesses and improve marketing.
The government’s efforts to revive the tourism sector post-pandemic have paid off, with tourism numbers in 2024 exceeding those of 2019.
The government revoked Brads’ Boledo license after discovering under-reporting of sales, with Fi We Boledo generating $16 million in its first year. The profits are now directed to NHI and sports expansion.
The Ministry of Natural Resources has held land clinics across the country, issuing thousands of titles and clearing up longstanding land issues for first-time landowners and public officers.
Public hospitals and clinics have removed fees, ensuring quality care for all Belizeans. The government also wrote off $54 million in debt owed to KHMH and built new polyclinics in Placencia, Caye Caulker, and Crooked Tree.
The government continues to focus on improving governance, transparency, and accountability through various legislative reforms.
With these achievements, the PUP aims to continue driving progress under Plan Belize 2.0.
