Grab the umbrella, a tropical wave is on the way

By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Belizeans in the south should keep the umbrellas handy today, as a weak tropical wave approaches the country, bringing cloudy skies and rounds of rain.

According to the National Meteorological Service, skies will be cloudy at times today and tonight, with a few showers and isolated thunderstorms likely over the southern districts and some central areas. Elsewhere, showers or thunderstorms will be generally isolated.

Temperatures along the coast will reach a high of 87 degrees Fahrenheit (31 Celsius) and a low of 80 (27 Celsius). Inland areas will be warmer, climbing to 91 degrees Fahrenheit (33 Celsius) and dropping to 73 (23 Celsius). In the hills, expect a high of 80 degrees Fahrenheit (27 Celsius) and a cooler low of 68 (20 Celsius).

At sea, winds will blow from the east to northeast at 10 to 20 knots, with choppy to moderate seas and waves of 3 to 6 feet.

On the tropical front, there is reassuring news. Despite the approaching wave, no tropical cyclone formation is expected over the region during the next 48 hours.

Looking ahead, similar weather conditions are expected for Thursday and Thursday night.

Today’s low tides are at 10:53 AM and 10:07 PM, with a high tide at 4:49 PM and another high at 4:18 AM tomorrow. The sun sets this evening at 6:31 PM and rises tomorrow at 5:24 AM. The forecast was issued by forecaster Crystal Rosalez.
