By Zoila Palma: The San Ignacio and Santa Elena communities are mourning the deaths of 2 dedicated Special Constables Manuel “CarB” Smith and Fidencia “Fidy” Osgalla.
Smith and Osgalla had just been relieved from their duties at the San Ignacio market on Wednesday morning just before 6am when they were pursued by armed motorcycle gunmen and killed.
ASP Stacy Smith says that the investigation so far indicates that the 2 armed gunmen followed them and opened fire.
“What we have been able to gather so far in the course of this investigation is that Smith and Osgalla were traveling onboard a vehicle having been reported off duty from the market in that municipality. The video footage that we have retrieved so far suggests that they were tracked by two persons onboard a motorcycle and upon reaching near Hospital Street, that is when one of the persons produced a firearm and fired several shots which resulted in the demise of these two individuals,” Smith said.
Families, friends and colleagues are demanding justice for the fallen community members.
