By Zoila Palma: Today, the Ministry of Immigration joined the nation in extending condolences on the passing of Dr. Naun Bonilla.
“As Belize mourns the passing of Dr. Bonilla, we pause to honor his life, service, and legacy.
The Refugees Department was deeply honored to have welcomed Dr. Bonilla as the keynote speaker for our 10th Anniversary Celebration. We remain grateful that he accepted our invitation and shared with us a powerful message on protection, dignity, hope, and the transformative impact of asylum,” the Ministry said.
The Ministry says that Dr. Bonilla reminded during his speech that “true refuge is more than safety. It is the presence of hope. It is the presence of opportunity. It is the possibility of contribution.”
“His message resonated deeply with our Department’s mission and will forever remain part of this important milestone in our history. As Dr. Bonilla reflected on the power of solidarity in shaping lives, communities, and futures, we join the nation today in standing in solidarity with his family, loved ones, colleagues, and all who mourn his passing,” the Ministry added.
May his legacy continue to inspire generations to come. Rest in peace, Dr. Bonilla.
