By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Minister of Blue Economy and Marine Conservation Andre Perez says Belize’s Blue Economy must deliver real benefits to coastal communities and the families who live there.
Perez took part in the National Financial Resilience Symposium hosted by the University of Belize’s Faculty of Management and Social Sciences this week.
During the discussions, the minister stressed that Blue Economy initiatives should translate into reliable incomes, access to affordable financing, stronger savings and more diverse livelihood opportunities for households.
The symposium also looked at the role of targeted financing programmes for fishers and small businesses, along with investments in marine conservation, sustainable development, renewable energy and energy efficiency.
The Ministry said Perez’s participation highlighted the need to link sustainable economic growth with household financial security, build resilience to climate related shocks and create new opportunities through an inclusive Blue Economy.
