By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Today, Prime Minister John Briceño was welcomed in Mexico by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
Prime Minister Briceño and President Lopez Obrador reaffirmed their respective nations’ commitment to strengthening ties of friendship and commerce.
Prime Minister Briceño also met with Lic. Alicia Bárcena, Mexico’s Secretary of Foreign Affairs, where he expressed Belize’s gratitude for Mexico’s swift response to recent border security issues.
Discussions also focused on the possibility of the ongoing Tren Maya project being extended to Belize; the stabilization of Mexico’s energy supply to our grid and regularizing the exportation of sugar and coconut products to Mexico.
