By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Police are investigating an attempted theft at a supermarket in Trial Farm Village, Orange Walk District.
According to reports, on Tuesday, April 21, around 8:00 am, a 44 year old business owner was at his establishment on the Philip Goldson Highway when he was alerted by a cashier about a suspicious customer.
The cashier reported that a male person appeared to have items concealed around his waist.
The business owner approached the individual, who was at the cashier area paying for a toothpaste, and requested that he remove any concealed items.
The individual then produced a bottle of mouthwash valued at $12 and a body wash valued at $8.95 from his waist area.
The items were recovered and placed on the counter. The suspect then exited the store and fled the scene.
Police later detained a 35 year old Belizean man in connection with the incident. The items were labeled and photographed, and surveillance footage was reviewed.
Investigations are ongoing.
