By Breaking Belize News Staff: Keinen Correy Bermudez, a 29-year-old call center agent with Acquiro Media, has been remanded to the Belize Central Prison following his arrest in connection with the murder of Dimitri D’andre Usher. Bermudez, a resident of #2 Victoria Street, Belize City, was charged with abetment to murder in a court appearance today.
The arrest comes ten days after Usher, 23, was fatally shot on August 25, 2024. Police reports indicate that Usher was struck by multiple gunshots near his residence on Woods Street, Belize City. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital shortly after 8:00 p.m. on the same day.
During his arraignment in Court #2, Bermudez, who was unrepresented, was informed by the Senior Magistrate that due to the gravity of the charges under Section 16-2A of the Crime Control Criminal Act, bail could not be granted. Bermudez will remain in custody at the Belize Central Prison until November 27, 2024. He was advised of his right to apply for bail through the High Court with legal assistance.
Police investigations revealed that on the evening of the murder, Usher was approached by an assailant near the Constitution Park’s fence, who fired several shots, resulting in his death. Authorities collected several 9mm shell casings from the crime scene.
Funeral services for Dimetrie D’andre Usher are scheduled for today at Saint Ignatius Roman Catholic Church, located at the corner of Euphrates and Basra Street, Belize City.
