By Zoila Palma: U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira have agreed to meet in the coming weeks following a brief conversation at a Group of 20 (G20) foreign ministers’ meeting in Atlanta.
The meeting, hosted by Rubio, is expected to take place ahead of the G20 leaders’ summit scheduled for December in Miami, Reuters report.
The planned meeting comes amid diplomatic tensions between the two countries over Brazil’s failure to approve President Donald Trump’s nominee for U.S. ambassador and Washington’s decision to grant a visa to Brazilian Senator Flávio Bolsonaro following his election defeat.
