By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Belize City construction worker is out on bail after he was accused of burglarizing a Kings Park home, where the homeowner allegedly caught him inside with her freshly baked fluffy Kriol bread and a piece of stew chicken taken from the refrigerator.

Twenty-six-year-old Eldridge Aljournon Ramos, also known as “Bolo,” appeared unrepresented in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court, where he pleaded not guilty to a charge of burglary.

The allegation is that on June 27, 2026, Ramos entered the K Street home of a 53-year-old woman who we will only call “Ms. Karen”.

Ms. Karen reported to police that she left her home at around 7:15 a.m. to deliver bread and bun to a neighbour and returned about 20 minutes later. As she approached her house, she allegedly saw Ramos inside.

According to Laing, when she questioned Ramos, he claimed that he had entered the house to retrieve a five-gallon bottle that workers had previously left there for safekeeping.

Laing, however, reportedly noticed that bread she had baked and left wrapped on a table, along with a piece of stew chicken that had been inside her refrigerator, were now together on the table. She said the bread was valued at $2.50 and the chicken at $3, for a total value of $5.50.

Ms. Karen told police that she had been assisting workers carrying out construction in the K Street area by allowing tools and materials to be stored in her yard, but maintained that she had never given anyone permission to enter her house.

Following an investigation, which police say included the review of surveillance footage from the area, Ramos was arrested and charged with burglary.

He was granted bail in the sum of $3,000, which he was able to meet, and is due back in court on August 26, 2026, when he is expected to receive disclosure in the case.
