By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): The Ministry of Health and Wellness has issued a strong statement condemning violence, threats, intimidation and harassment directed at healthcare workers across Belize.

In a release issued on June 6, the ministry stressed that healthcare professionals and support staff serve on the front lines every day, protecting lives, responding to emergencies and delivering essential services to communities throughout the country.

The statement comes at a time when concerns about the safety of healthcare workers have been heightened following recent incidents that have placed the spotlight on the challenges faced by medical personnel while carrying out their duties.

According to the ministry, any attack or threat against healthcare workers is unacceptable and undermines patient safety, continuity of care and the overall well-being of the nation.

The ministry emphasized that doctors, nurses, technicians, community health workers and other medical personnel have the fundamental right to work in a safe and secure environment without fear of abuse, intimidation or violence.

Officials also called on Belizeans to respect healthcare workers and support them in the execution of their duties whether in hospitals, clinics, community outreach programs, vector control operations or home visits.

The Ministry of Health reaffirmed its commitment to working alongside law enforcement agencies and the public to strengthen protections for healthcare workers nationwide.
