By Aaron Humes: A five-year-old child was reported apparently drowned in a well last Thursday in San Narciso, Corozal District.
ACP Hilberto Romero said the child’s grandfather told police that he had noticed the child was not in the yard and immediately began searching, whereupon he saw a pair of slippers inside the well. He alerted neighbours, who began searching but could not see the child at first.
Later, the child’s body was recovered from inside the well by divers in the area; a post-mortem examination has been scheduled. A file will be compiled for the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, which will determine charges.
