By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): A Douglas Village farmer came home from his morning’s work to find his back door broken and his home ransacked, and police are now seeking a man in connection with the burglary.
According to the Belize Police Department, the farmer reported that on Thursday, July 16, 2026, he secured his concrete residence, ensuring all windows and doors were properly locked, before leaving for his farm on the outskirts of the village.
Upon returning home at about 9:30 a.m., he discovered that the wooden back door on the northern side of the house, valued at $250, had been broken. A further inspection revealed the residence had been ransacked, with several items missing, including a pipe wrench, a chrome adjustable tool, and a black Casio watch, together valued at around $100.
The farmer immediately sought information from neighbours, and a relative reported having observed a man entering the yard. The complainant later provided a formal statement to police and requested court action.
Police have named a person as wanted in connection with the matter. As he has not been detained or charged, his identity is being withheld pending charges.
The matter remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Trial Farm Police Sub Station or the Orange Walk police.
