Enhancing modern energy services with electric buses through Electric Mobility Pilot Project

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On January 29,2024, the first electric bus arrived in Belize.

The bus will be delivered to Belize City, where it is expected to enhance the intra-city commute for residents.

The Government of Belize noted that this is the first of 5 buses to arrive in country as a part of the Electric Mobility Pilot Project, which was launched in February 2022.

The cabinet noted that this initiative works towards universal access to affordable, reliable, and modern energy services, moving towards low-carbon transportation.

The project is funded by the European Union and implemented in partnership with the UNDP, the Belize City Council, the Ministry of Public Utilties, Energy, Logistics and E-Governance and the Ministry of Youth, Sports & Transport.
