By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): A man is facing a drug charge after police carried out an anti-drug operation in Bella Vista Village, Toledo District.
According to the Belize Police Department, on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, officers executed a search warrant at a residence in the village. Present at the time was Aaron Michael Sabal, and during a search of his room, police reported finding a small aluminium foil wrap on the floor. When opened, officers said the wrap contained a white substance suspected to be a controlled drug.
Sabal was informed of the offence, cautioned, advised of his constitutional rights, and escorted to the Independence Police Station along with the suspected drugs. At the station, in his presence, the substance was weighed and recorded as an undetermined amount of suspected crack cocaine, before being sealed, labelled, and kept as evidence.
Police subsequently swore to an information and complaint and formally arrested and charged 44-year-old Aaron Michael Sabal, an unemployed man of Bella Vista Village, with the crime of possession of controlled drugs.
As with any criminal matter, Sabal is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
