By Zoila Palma: Benque Viejo del Carmen is preparing to celebrate culture, tradition and community at the third annual Día de los Muertos Street Fest on Sunday, November 1, 2026.
The event, organized by Blazeful Vibes in collaboration with the Benque Viejo Town Council, will take place in front of Cancha Marshalleck from 4:00 p.m. until midnight.
The street fest is expected to feature more than 35 vendors offering food, drinks and local products, along with music, performances and competitions with prizes.
Entertainment will include music by DJ IconicSound Chavez, while community members can participate in competitions for Best Dressed Catrín and Catrina, Best Made Ixpasha and Best Decorated Booth for vendors.
Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a vibrant cultural tradition that honors the memory of loved ones who have passed away through remembrance, offerings, flowers and candles.
