By Aaron Humes: Two suspects are on the run following a brazen robbery at the UNO gas station located at Mile 1 ½ on the Philip Goldson Highway. The robbery took place on Friday afternoon as the station manager was preparing to make a cash deposit.
According to police reports, while the manager was approaching his vehicle, one of the assailants confronted him with a firearm, holding him at gunpoint and subsequently throwing him to the ground. A second suspect, who was reportedly waiting nearby on a motorcycle, took advantage of the situation and stole a significant amount of cash before speeding off with his accomplice.
Assistant Commissioner Hilberto Romero of the National Crime Investigation Branch provided details during a press briefing, stating, “We have information that they were at a parking lot beside gas station waiting. And when this manager came out, he was attacked.”
Police are currently investigating the incident to determine if there was any insider knowledge involved. “We are looking at that, but at this time we have not gathered any evidence to charge anyone,” Romero noted.
Furthermore, authorities confirmed that surveillance cameras were operational in the vicinity of the gas station, which may provide crucial evidence as the investigation progresses.
