By Zoila Palma: Today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement on the official post of Kennedy Carillo, Belize’s State Representative to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in Montreal.
The Ministry says that it received formal communication that the Director of Criminal and Penal Prosecutions of Quebec declined to pursue charges against Carillo and therefore all related proceedings are concluded.
“In keeping with its commitment to the rule of law, Belize partially waived Ms. Carillo’s diplomatic immunity so that the Canadian authorities could carry out their investigation without impediment,” the Ministry said.
In addition, the Ministry informed that the Government of Belize has determined that Carillo will remain in her post as Belize’s State Representative to ICAO.
The Ministry expressed appreciation to the Canadian Authorities for their cooperation and support.
